Lekki Garden Collapse, Who Is After Nyong Richard??

Mr. Nyong Richard by what he did immediately the government of Lagos State invited him to surrender himself after the collapse of one of his properties under construction was Noble and should be celebrated by all and sundry, as Nigerias has a history of not ever giving up themselves for arrest nor investigation in the past, but this younger entrepreneur did.

The collapse of his building under construction was a very unfortunate incident and must be condemned in its totality but why is the government still holding a noble man in prison for a little over a week without charging him to court and why is his case different from others?

We all know how many buildings had collapsed in Lagos to be precise in the last couple of years with Synagogue Church of All Nations building collapse leading the pack in recent times and the pastor of the Church, Prophet T.B Joshua had vehemently had refused to honour the invitations sent to him by both the government of the state and the court and he hasn't been arrested nor kept behind bars for that and here is a young man with conscience and integrity being held for being good enough to have gone to answer the call of the government.

What his continued incarceration has taught me personally is that, when in his kind of situation, I would rather run to my village than answer the call of the state government since I already have an idea of what the government will do to me if I honour their invitation.

How exactly are we then encouraging integrity, dignity and name in this country, when some people are above the law while others suffer for being law abiding??

Meanwhile, I am told that the building collapsed in the early hours of that morning and one begins to wonder what those people who died were doing at a construction site that early morning? Who were they and how did they get access to the construction site that early?

I sincerely smell RAT in this whole drama as Nyong Richard is one of the youngest in the industry without a god father nor mother and this is why this case in going this way and I think the government of Lagos State should be sensible enough to know that whichever way they go with this case, history will look in the Favour of this young man who has done nothing than PUSH INTEGRITY forward in the way and manner he does his business.

I think the government should release Mr. Richard Nyong with immediate effect while investigations into the collapse building continues.

  1. I agree with you, if they want to hold him in prison for what reason. Arik airline keeps bending rules but because they are highly connected nothing is done to them. When dana airline crashed were the owners of the airline jailed? NO, but a who make houses affordable who obviously can't go building the houses himself has one unfortunate incident and he is treated like a beast! Buhari, judicial system, Sit Up! Justice for all

What's wrong with us in this country? Why do we read meaning into everything and not let justice take its course? Considering how many people died in the collapsed building what is this person saying?

The family of those that died are the ones feeling the pinch. Are they to die in vain? Please stop this nonsense and let justice take its course.

Stupid propaganda, whosoever sent this SMS has been paid. It is failure on the side of the owner of the property not to protect the property of that magnitude by employing security operatives to keep out squatters who have now lost their lives. Let the justice take its course abeg to deter those who who are cutting corners with precious human lives. Don't send me stupid SMS again in your life or else...

  10. Obviously your article is sponsored. Sad. In a society where the rule of law is recognised Richard would not be imprisoned without a charge and pronouncement of guilt by the court. It is unfortunate this has happened to him. My take. Richard should have seen this coming with the unending issues Lekki paradise estate subscribes have had with the quality of the structures delivered. Precious, let's be honest if Richard was delivering the very poor quality of structures he does in the developed world he would have been behind bars long ago. For us who have subscribed and are still waiting for completion let's pray earnestly that Richard survives this episode and delivers soon. We no wan hear story.

    Dear blogger,
You should be more concerned about the souls that were lost and other victims of this building collapse. Has justice been served on behalf of these victims?
How Mr. Richard case is treated is another matter which should take a secondary place.
Please be guided and stop spamming my mobile device.
    Thank you.

The author of this article is very bog idiot. So we should sympathise with him for breaking the law and building without approval and condemn the innocents that died because they have no right to be in the building at that time. You are such an idiot and should be locked up for sending SPAM. So what if he submitted himself? As so pissed that this nonsense got to my phone.

  15. Noble or not...som1 has to be held responsible.. Either it collapsed at 2am or 5pm...it did collapse and the believe me...maybe it was a good thing it didn't in the afternoon....more construction workers on site. Let's be careful with what we put out in the name of blogging.

You greedy self centered sycophant... Wonder if you would have written this if your father died in that building. Is it not obvious that those workers don't have houses to sleep in??..would it not have been more calamity if the building which was bound to collapse actually collapsed during d day?? How come those dead people had their helmets on?? Do people sleep with helmets??..They were working you ignoramus...silly annoying article.

  17. May the soul of the dead rest in peace. Amen. The court should be linient with Mr Nyong because he made himself available, he cannot run away because of his huge investments, he is a Nigerian, he is not the builder of the structure. Though he may has his own fault in the unfortunate inccident. May will never seen this again. Amen.

Mr. Precious, this is utter crap! Lekki Gardens have some of the most poorly built properties you can find around. Don't be carried away by your emotions, Corporate manslaughter shouldn't neither be overlooked nor swept under. We all must begin to do things differently. Are you suggesting we hurriedly sweep this one under the carpet and wait for the next? Common! Think!

The obviously paid writer of this article is a foolish person trying to appear as smart.
Mr Nyong did not run away cos he knows he will lose his investment if he does that, so stop trying to commend him for going to report himself as demanded by the Lagos state govt.
His company collects so much money from people and deliver poor quality houses. My friend subscribed to a flat in a 3 floor apartment in Lekki gardens being constructed opposite Northern foreshore (chevron area), Lekki gardens started roofing this house only to remove the roof and add 2 additional floors!!!, is that not madness and greed of the highest oerder?, why won't such buildings collapse? A lot of such stories abound even in their construction at Ikate Elegushi
I would have wish a similar fate to the writer of this article and his/her family but I choose not to do that. Be careful the type of PR jobs you choose to do in future.
Mr Nyong let down all safety precautions cos of his greed, let the law take its course, and for your information it was in the papers on Monday that Lagos state got a court order to detain him for additional 30days to allow them conclude investigations, that is not too much for an incident that led to the loss of 35 lives

  22. How did you get my number to text me?The message is unsolicited and unnecessary. He was warned to stop building at 3 storey, yet he continued until 5th floor. He disobeyed the laws of Lagos state and as such he should face the law. Those that died are human beings not chicken.Sentimental support is allowed. We must learn to do what is right because it is right in Nigeria.Impunity is too much in Nigeria!

  24. Well, personally I don't feel we should look at this as a propaganda even if it seems like one. Personally I have asked a lot of the questions that this blogger is asking here since last week that this event occurred. The loss of life is highly regrettable and quite unfortunate but must we Nigerian be comfortable with double standard of judiciary and justice at large if we must put it that way?? The same judiciary that is hounding Richard right now for manslaughter is the same judiciary that has been watching TB Joshua for close to a year now walking freely all over the place. The same judiciary system which has allowed many Airline coy to walk away freely with manslaughter after over 200people dies on their glorified Molue in the air is the same judiciary that is playing to the gallery and embarrassing a legitimate business man. If the only accusation some of can bring up is that Lekki Garden has not been building their houses well with poor finishing then why are they still in business?? Why are people still rushing to buy their properties??? To me I feel it is because Government has shied away from their responsibilities also and while they should have been busy providing affordable and adequate housing for the masses send working class they are busy embezzling the tax payers funds and putting up countable structures and telling people to ballot for them as Lottery, even though the prices of the structures are prohibitive!!! But here come a young man striving to make these so called housing affordable at least to the working class and definitely since no organisation is set up for charity also making some margin for himself as a business Man but this is the type of personality that influential Nigerians don't want to see on the platform. Hence, this prosecution of calumny against Richard Young! People have robbed Banks dry in this country and depositors died in the process due to heart attack yet they are sitting in the upper house now as senator or even Senate president yet we are debating whether this young man is being maltreated or not. Personally am grossly dissapointed and lack total confidence in our judicial system even with so called PMB anti corruption propaganda mumbo jumbo so I feel they need to drop this charade of shame, fine the coy accordingly, ensure proper guideline for all property developers across the land and let the innocent young man proceed with his life. You can go ahead and critisize this position all you want but it will never change the fact that we all just like small puns on the players board, the real criminals are sitting up there in the Government corridors and they are the ones that should be jailed and if possible terminated!!

  26. Your write up is not based on facts but personal thoughts. I was at this site a year ago with a friend of mine and after inspecting the project because they were doing a promo then ( Buy two get one free) I told my friend that these structures will eventually collapse and that we should not buy. The reasons for my conclusion then was because the buildings had been completed on three floors, ground floor inclusive and even painted before the decision to add two extra floors on each building which was not planned from onset. The pillar (columns) were not linked with the former last floors and provision was not made for the lift since it was just 2 floors. They had to be breaking decking (slabs) to create a passage for the elevator. They were even setting blocks for the walls of the elevator instead of concrete. The engineer we met on site could not answer any of the questions we asked satisfactorily and we could see that he was just a guy that must obey orders to make ends meet. It is a matter of time the other structures will still come down unless proper integrity test are performed on them and necessary corrections made before habitation. On workers sleeping on site, it's the norm in construction industry as most of these workers comes from outside Lagos. Lekki Garden have done excellent job on other projects I had seen but they compromised on this particular one, may be due to wrong advise from wrong sources or even excessive profit motive. They should learn the lesson, compensate the affect family and do good jobs going forward. It will bad for the economy and entrepreneurship to allow the company to die. It is a phase and it will sure pass.

If people like you cannot say the truth which is so glaring it is a shame and it is obvious that you were paid to do this. WHO IS AFTER RICHARD, it is his greed and the psychopants he surrounded himself with. it is his arrogance and oppression of innocent neighbour's whom he took their lands forcefully harassing with them with mobile police.
Take a look at this video and several on YouTube about the different atrocities of Lekki Gardens. It is his shadow haunting him now.

Pls tell your paymasters they failed.

His case is this bad because he was given approval for a four floors building but he allowed his people to go ahead to add another floor and then the rest they say is history. It's really sad this had to happen because he might have been arrogant or whatever but we have to give it to him that he has done very well for his age. I really do hope he gets out of this well and soon.

  33. Precious argument in a nutshell is, let's exonerate or be light on offenders because that has been the norm. Therefore, he is advocating the norm continues without a break. If Lagos state govt is trying to break the sad norm, then that's a political move. Precious you have a low IQ, work on it.
A friend bought a property in Lekki Gardens. It was shabbily done, the roof was leaking, the walls were cracking, the electrical work was not properly done. Obviously greed is a factor in all of that; at the expense of people's life. Smh
