The senior Pastor of Fresh Oil Ministries, Lagos, Apostle Psalm Okpe has been arrested by the Airport Road Police Station in Benin City, Edo State over the death in a hotel of a female gospel singer, Mrs. Yvonne Omoarebokhae.
The late female gospel singer who’s cause of death is still a mystery, was allegedly lodged into the hotel by the Lagos-based Pastor after agreeing with him to perform in his church programmes in the region.
Husband of the deceased, Odion Omoarebokhae, who spoke to journalists in Benin, said his wife met Apostle Okpe on Facebook and after several months of chatting, the man of God invited his wife to perform at his programme to be held in Benin, Warri and Asaba.
According to Mr. Odion Omoarebokhae, “My wife left for Warri on Thursday to perform at the programme as scheduled, and on Friday morning at about 10:00 am, she called to inform me that she would be home soon. “I did not hear from her again until at about 9:30 pm when the police used my wife’s phone to invite me over. When I got to the police station, I waited for more than two hours before the police men on duty asked me to go home, but I insisted on knowing the whereabouts of my wife.
“The DPO later told me that my wife was picked at an hotel in the GRA and was rushed to the Benin Central Hospital where she was confirmed dead.
“I am yet to see the corpse of my wife to know want happened and who is responsible for her death. We have a son that will turn three on June 25,” he narrated.
Investigation however revealed that the pastor has been arrested and is helping police with the investigation.
When contacted on phone, the State Commissioner of Police, Chris Ezike, confirmed the death of the woman. “The man (Pastor involved) is married and the woman is married too. Not until a post mortem is conducted, we cannot conclude what happened. I have asked the matter to be transferred to the State CID,” he said, adding that, a post mortem examination will confirm the cause of death.
Meanwhile, Nollywood Actor and Evangelist, Eucharia Anunobi is the Assistant Pastor of Fresh Oil Ministries, located in Egbeda, Lagos, which was where she was ordained an Evangelist by Apostle Psalm Okpe and was appointed his assistant immediately after ordination.
