The Managing Director of Fidelity Bank Plc, Mr. Nnamdi Okonkwo who was
invited for questioning over some transactions by the former minister of
petroleum, Diezani Allison-Madueke and later detained by the operatives of the
Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has been released.
Okonkwo was (alleged) to have received $115 million in deposits to the bank
from former Petroleum Resources Minister and allegedly helped to disburse the money to electoral officials.
According to EFCC, Mr. Okonkwo was picked up for failing to report the matter to the Nigerian
Financial Intelligence Unit, NFIU, as required by the law, but the bank however said the transactions were duly reported as
required by the regulators WITH PROOFS.
Mr. Nnamdi was released Thursday night as the commission claims that investigations
into the matter continue.
