The
Honourable Minister for labour, Dr. Chris Ngige has cried out to the Security
Agencies over serious threats to his life by Senator Andy Uba and Hon. Tony
Nwoye.
Although Ngige agreed
that money changed hands, he is adamant that whatever Senator Andy Uba gave to
him is just money for the running the party since he just joined our party. I
am surprised that Andy who is versed in internal working of political parties
will request for refund of money donated to move our party APC forward
especially funds that he donated as a latecomer in the party he said. Senator
Andy Uba was granted waiver to contest for the ticket of the party because
truly some persons facilitated the move for Andy to be so recognized.
In
a letter he forwarded to security agencies, Ngige complained about the severe
harassment from Senator Andy Uba and Tony Nwoye because both want to fly the
flag of All Progressives Congress, APC ticket in the forthcoming 18th of
November gubernatorial election.
In
the letter, the Minister narrated what lead him to assume that his life is in danger.
He charged the police to investigate the telephone calls Senator Andy Uba and
Tony Nwoye made to his mobile phone number 08037622222.
When
contacted to further expatiate on the petition to the police, the Honorable
Minister for Labour confirmed that Senator Andy Uba called him last week
Thursday and threatened him to return the Five Hundred Million Naira he gave to
him to assist him to become the flag bearer of APC in the governorship
election.
He
also revealed that Hon. Tony Nwoye is threatening him that should he not secure
the ticket, he should count himself 'deleted'. Ngige confirmed that he became
worried when he analyzed the word deleted and come to realize that what it
means is that he will be deleted from the face of the earth which is death. He
wondered why Tony Nwoye and Andy Uba will want to kill him over mere
governorship ticket.
The
leadership APC has also reacted to the threat from aspirants. The National
Chairman of APC, Chief John Oyegun who is also facing allegation of receiving
bribe from Senator Andy Uba and many of the aspirants confirmed that he has
been briefed by the Minister and that the Police are on top of the situation.
He warned aspirants to play by the rules and not twist the arms of the elders
of the party who has laboured to bring the party to it's present glory. He
condemned in clear terms that threat to the life of the Minister and promised
to set an internal mechanism for conflict resolution in the party that will
settle disputes and also disciple erring members.
In
his reaction, the Anambra State Chairman of APC, Mr Emeka Ibe vow to deal with
any aspirant who believes in violence. He was furious that Andy Uba will be
threatening senior members of APC because he needs the party's ticket for
election. As at the time of writing this report, The State Chairman of the
party is in Abuja on the invitation of the National Executives of the party. He
will among other things explain to the National Officers of the party what he
know about the threat and other challenges currently rocking the APC Anambra.
A
stakeholder in All Progressives Congress in Anambra State Chief Desmond
Oradimma frowns at the rate these 'new passengers' in APC are misbehaving as if
they do not have common home training. We could not understand why these
food-is-ready-politicians who can also be called tenants in APC will not allow
genuine members to rest in our party. It disturbs loyal members in APC who
believe that Andy and Tony Nwoye are in APC just to capsize the party and move
on. Chief Oradimma is of the opinion that the duo are distabilisers sent to the
party by PDP to cause trouble and render the party useless. He advised APC
party faithful to shun violence as they match to the Saturday primary.
