The
Nigerian Army has come out to say that the free medical outreach to various
communities in the South East as part of the activities of operation Python
Dance, also known as Exercise EGWU EKE II, which had a total of 5261 persons benefiting
from it so far.
The
beneficiaries were quite enthusiastic about the free medication which covers
out patients services such as consultations, diagnosis, laboratory tests,
dental services physiotherapy, eye clinic
and dispensing of medications and eye glasses, as well as issuance of
treated mosquitoes nets, deworming of children
and counselling freely in Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo States.
The
detailed statistics as made available by the Deputy Director, Public Relations,
82 Division, Col. Sagir Musa, shows that from the 82 Division Hospital and
Medical Services, there was large turned out all over.
Enugu
State recorded 1985 beneficiaries, while Imo and Ebonyi States had 1875 and 1401,
beneficiaries respectively. Added to other humanitarian activities such as
distribution of bags of rice, biscuits and chocolates to primary schools pupils
in the benefiting communities, the number of beneficiaries is quite high.
The
free medical outreach and other humanitarian activities would be extended to
Abia and Anambra States.
