News broke
a few days ago of how the Governor of Ekiti State and already failed
presidential aspirant under the platform of the People Democratic Party, PDP,
Ayodele Ifayose and a former member of the PDP in Ekiti State, now with the All
Progressive Congress, APC, Mrs. Abimbola Olawumi Olajumoke-Adeniyi, which led
to the arrest and subsequent remand in prison of the later over issues related
to traffic offence, assault on a Police Officer and a staff of Ekiti State
Traffic Management Agency.
The issue
between the governor and his former political ally didn’t start today, but
dates back to 2015 after Fayose took the oath of office as governor of Ekiti
State.
Mrs
Abimbola Olawumi Olajumoke-Adeniyi was part of tools Ayo Ifayose used to work
against the APC during the governorship elections in the state and against the
former governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi.
It is
on record that in recent times, if the governor sees you as a threat in Ekiti
State, he will find ways of pushing you out of the circle of things in the state
and would use all the machineries of government to make sure your image is tainted,
so much so that he will see that you don’t campaign and win an election in the
state.

Trouble
began for Olawunmi when after she joined the media team of the governor and wasn’t
paid a dime in over one year, she protested and in his character not to reward
those who work for him, Fayose started blackmailing her with accusation of
being gossiped with amongst politicians in Ekiti and had her removed from the
government house and the press crew.
When
she dumped the PDP, she joined the APC in the state and declared to run for the
office of the Chairman, Irepodun-Ifelodun Iocal Government Area and seeing that
she has followers and the popularity to withstand any of his boys in the Local
Government elections, the governor had to find a way to set her up with traffic
offence and assault.
We are
told that Olawunmi also fallout with the governors Special Assistant on Social
Media, Lere Olayinka who is the leader of the governors media team in Ekiti.
Ayo Fayose
in his bid to get at her, had her house demolished and has her mother’s house marked
for demolition during the ongoing reconstruction of some part of Ekiti State.
It will
be recalled that the governor is fighting everyone and everybody he perceives
an opposing figure in his bid to keep hold on to Ekiti and can go to any length
to make sure that his political enemies are put down, but there are people he
in the same Ekiti who will trash him when the time is ripe, for he cannot
continue to treat Ekiti and her most educated indigenes like second class in
the affairs of the state for too long.
