Let
me start this small piece by first, appreciating God for giving Nigeria and Nigerians
a man like President Muhammadu Buhari, who came at a time like this, when the
political system in Nigeria needed a total revamp in all spectrum, for with his
kind and the mindset he has about leadership and positions of authority, we are
going far as a country, for with him, it can never be business as usual, either
amongst his political associates, or the economy in general. He is a man who
believes in doing unto others, same as he would want them do to him and this is
where he has gotten right politically.
Worried
I am, that the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, is showing signs that she
is not different from the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, who during the elections
that brought the national disgrace of a governor in Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose in
2014, used the Nigerian Police, the Army and other security agencies of
government against the opposition, making it impossible for the then governor,
Kayode Fayemi to move around after his security aides were withdrawn on the
orders of the then president, Goodluck Jonathan.
Fast-forward
to 2017 and in Anambra State, save for the intervention of the president, Muhammadu
Buhari, the APC led Police force had ordered the withdrawal of the security
aides of the governor and candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance,
APGA, Gov. Willie Obiano, same as it was done to Kayode Fayemi of the APC in
2014 in Ekiti State and one begins to wonder when these politicians would learn
from history?
Who
gave the orders that had the aides of a sitting governor withdrawn? Would same
security aides have been withdrawn if the governor were to be of the APC? So,
what is the difference between the APC now and the PDP then, if they do the
same thing they preached against when the ball was on their side?
Why
do we like setting bad records for the youths of the country to follow? Who will
withdraw the aides of the president when his time comes or, are they not
enjoying same constitutional covering?
It’s
a shame that the APC is not showing any sign of being different from the PDP in
anyway possible and for the president to have ordered the reinstatement of the
security personnel of the governor of Anambra State, shows that he was not
consulted.
Politicians
simply hijacked the system and took the decision to have the governor stripped naked
before the election date.
