Nsima Ekere, MD/CEO, NDDC. |
The
Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Mr. Nsima
Ekere, has commended members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa
Ibom State for their show of popularity and peaceful conduct despite the
disenfranchisement of the electorate during the December 2, 2017 local
government election held in the state.
In
a press statement signed on his behalf by his Personal Assistant, Media,
Inemesit Inah, Mr. Ekere said it was clear that the popularity of the fielded APC
candidates for the election made the Akwa Ibom State Independent Electoral
Commission (AKISIEC) to collude with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to
massively rig the election and deny the people of the state the opportunity to
freely choose who their chairmen and councilors would be.
He
criticized AKISIEC for fraudulently allocating figures to all the PDP
candidates even when elections did not hold in almost the entire state.
The
NDDC boss commended all the APC candidates for not resorting to violence
despite the brazen manipulation of the elections and called on the Independent
National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies to ensure that the
votes of the electorate count in subsequent elections in not only Akwa-Ibom
State, but in Nigeria as a whole.
Nsima
Ekere went further to encourage APC faithful and the entire people of Akwa Ibom
State to continue their support for the administration of President Muhammadu
Buhari in other to enjoy more dividends of democracy from the Buhari led
federal government.
