Just
a week after Justice Olushola Williams of the Lagos State High Court struck out
EFCC’s fraud case against Innoson Motors because the anti-graft agency was
unable to bring its CEO, Innocent Chukwuma to court, the lawyer to Innoson
Motors, Mr. McCarthy Mbadugha was earlier today, brutally attacked and left in
a life threatening condition by hired assassins who made attempt on his life
with guns and machete, says the Group Head of Corporate Communications for
Innoson Group, Mr. Cornel Osigwe Cornel Osigwe, who also said that the EFCC has
vowed to arrest the industrialist and try him for alleged fraud and forgery.
The
spokesperson said that the lawyer recently complained about threats to his life
over his roles in various cases for Innoson on the Innoson vs GTB legal tussle
which are ongoing in various court.
Mr
Osigwe also said the lawyer had complained that on October 1, he received
anonymous text messages which contained threats to his life and demanded
addition security.
“Today
while in his chambers, a group of armed assassins broke into his office and
attacked him and left him to bleed to death,” but he was rushed to a nearby
hospital where he is currently receiving medical attention, he added.
The
Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Edgal Imohimi has not been reached
since the news broke.
