LAGOS 2019: When A Sitting Governor Becomes “PETTY”, Then What Is Left Of Him?

Ambode, Tinubu & Sanwoolu.

Embarrassment was what I felt after watching the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode berate an aspirant of his own party, the All, Progressives Congress, APC, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu on live television and I was like, WHO DOES THAT?

Flashback to 2014/2015 when Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu picked this same Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode against what some of us may call…….goodwill advise from Babatunde Fashola who was then Governor and had first hand information on this same Ambode who had served under in his government as governor, same way Babajide Sanwo-Olu served this government but Fashola kept his reservations and was all out campaigning for this big mouth Ambode till he became governor of Lagos State.

Imagine if Fashola had stood his grounds against the candidacy of Ambode in 2014 and had used his powers as governor to berate and make public, some of the things we heard about him later, what would have happened to his ambition to govern Lagos?

A Governor of Lagos, a first class state in the whole of Africa calling a World Press Conference just to talk ill of a man he is afraid will take over from him as governor? Isn’t this the highest level of childishness by a governor who is supposed to be governor of governors in Nigeria?

Ok, let me tell you something I said in 2014 when Ambode was chosen as governorship candidate of the APC. To me, immediately I saw the pictures of who was to be governor after Fashola, even though I like him because of his connection with Tinubu, I still had my reservations about his looks then as according to me, “in all the pictures being pushed on him to the public, Ambode looked more like an IMBECILE in all of them and I am sorry to say, but that was what I felt then, but I accepted him because of the man behind him and today, he is governor who thinks he can come out and castigate anyone through the press and get away with it?

For a man who was accused of being a fraudstar in government as Accountant General of Lagos State, we, Lagosians forgave and allowed him the liberty to be governor over us to think or feel that he alone has monopoly of seeking elective position in Lagos, then he has simply shoot himself in the foot as his second term bid is dead and buried.

So, what has Ambode telling us about the mental state and dollar case of Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu done to his own ambition? Maybe, the leadership of the party in Lagos will because Ambode came out to announce that another member of the party and aspirant is both a “MAD MAN and A FINANCIAL FRAUDSTAR” increase his chances of becoming governor again in Lagos State.

Bottom-line is that Ambode went too far beyond his reach this time around and I hope he is willing to face the consequences of his action today as the votes at the primaries to pick who the next governor will are being counted and results coming in show that we would have a new governorship candidate for the APC soon.
