Oluremi Tinubu, Solomon, Osinowo Wins, As Ashafa, Opeifa, Others Loses Out On Their Senatorial Aspirations.

Wife of the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC and Senator representing Lagos Central in the Senate, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has won the party’s senatorial primaries conducted on Friday.


Her colleague from Lagos East, Senator Gbenga Ashafa, was not so lucky, as he lost his third term bid to a four-term Lagos House of Assembly member, Bayo Osinowo, while Olamilekan Solomon from Lagos West won against two very prominent members of the APC, Kayode Opeifa and Areago Olopade lost out.
  
The National Working Committee member who oversaw the primaries in Lagos, Mr. Lucky Imasuen announced the results Saturday said that though, the senatorial primaries initially held on Thursday but were cancelled and rescheduled owing to logistic issues are here announced.

In the results of the senatorial primaries, Imasuen said Senator Tinubu, who was unopposed, polled 89,494 votes to emerge the candidate for Lagos Central, Senator Olamilekan Solomon emerged winner with 378,906 votes, as against the 1,179 votes scored by Mr Kayode Opeifa and Mrs. Areago Olopade’s 1,275 votes, while Hon. Bayo Osinowo defeated the incumbent Senator Gbenga Ashafa with 247,743 votes to emerge candidate for the Lagos East Senatorial district.

He disclosed that Ashafa, the incumbent, polled 20,385 in the primary election, promising that the House of Representatives and Lagos State House of Assembly primaries results were ready and would be released later.
