Dr. Uche Ogah. Abia State APC's Governorship Candidate. |
The
Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC in the 2019 governorship election in Abia State and industrialist, Dr. Uche Sampson Ogah
has consoled victims and families of those affected by one of the most tragic
accidents in the history of Abia State in recent times, the disastrous outbreak
of fire in a pipeline located at Umuimo and Unuadaruru communities in Osisioma
part of the state.
The
outbreak which claimed over 70 lives of Umu-Abia is heartbreaking and
regrettable even as the world mourns with us, though the incident could have
been prevented if precautionary measures were taken and on time to.
The
governorship candidate expressed deep pains and grief over the awful incident
in the state and commiserates with the families of the victims of the inferno,
while assuring that a better Abia is coming when disasters such as this will
not happen.
According
to him, "this is very unfortunate and not only heartbreaking, but
quite regrettable as well and I wish to call on all agencies of government
involved in disasters management in not only Abia State, but in Nigeria to
speed up their responses and ensure that survivors of this incident are given
adequate attention with relief materials provided to their care givers and
other families who have been affected’’.
Uche
Ogah promised to make sure that Abians do not grief again if elected governor
as he would use all instruments of government at his disposal to ensure the
protection of lives and prosperity, which really is the primary
responsibility of every governor or government.
He
says:, ‘’It is failure on government if lives are allowed to continue to go
this way and this is one of the major assignments I will embark upon
immediately I am sworn in, to ensure that Ndi-Abia sleep with their two eyes
properly closed’’.
