Can A ‘’BANKY W’’ Defeat An ‘’OBANIKORO’’ In An Election With ‘‘BOLA TINUBU’’ As The Magic Wand?

Olubankole Wellington, known as BankyW is a popular Nigerian Musician whose popularity goes across Africa and beyond, but recently, just like his fellow entertainers like veteran Onyeka Onwenu, Kanayo O. kanoyo, Kate Henshew, Desmond Elliot, and so many others who joined politics to make impact and help bring the change their constituents desire so much, even when some of them like Onyeka Onwenu were prevented by the powers that be from getting to power as a Local Government Chairman in Imo State, he decided to try his popularity with his people at the federal level.

For everyone who decides to go into politics at one time or the other, their desire is always to win, to some, falsely, and to others, because they are in the right party, with the right connections, have the money to prosecute the election, belong to the right political family, have a godfather, then, the success in secured.

For the 2019 election into the House of Representatives for the Eti-Osa Federal Constituency, the major contender and opposing figure for that position is the son of former Minister of State for Defense, Senator Musliu Obanikoro, Ibrahim Babajide Obanikoro who had contested for the Lagos State House of Assembly under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in 2015 when his father was still an energy of the ‘’POWER’’ that be in Lagos.

Today, after the reconciliation between the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Distinguished Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Musliu Obanikoro which led to the return of Senator Obanikoro to the APC and Tinubu decided to welcome Obanikoro back into the family with the ticket for the House of Representatives given to his son, whose only desire in 2015 was just a slot for the House of Assembly in Lagos.

One thing about being with the right party and political family is that the political future of every member of that family is guaranteed so long as loyalty is derivable from such an individual.

Therefore, the fight for the soul of Eti-Osa Federal Constituency is between ‘’NAME, MONEY, FAMILY and FAME’’, which are the four cardinal things that will determine who wins that election come 2019.

BankyW has fame, don’t know about money and maybe the name, Wellington, which is an Isale Eko known family name, but Obanikoro on the other hand have the name, the money, the family and maybe, a little of fame going by his father’s appreciable political elevations and achievements, which will be his very huge edge against BankyW as fame, money and family may never win you an election in a city like Lagos if you are not connected to the source of “POWER” here.

Whichever way that election goes 2019, it is evident already who the winner will be at the end of the day, as we all know that in Lagos, contesting and winning election is not by being popular alone, other factors are married together, especially the political family one belongs to.

We therefore wish BankyW well, and pray he joins forces with whoever wins that election to enthrone some, if not all, of the ideas he has for his people, while waiting for his time to come.
