Fayemi & Wabba. |
The
Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi met with the National President of
the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, Comrade Ayuba Wabba in the government house,
Ado-Ekiti and had discussions which bothered on workers welfare in the state.
The
meeting according to news report was a huge success as the governor and his
visitor had very detailed deliberations on the new minimum wage issue which the
governor said was due and according to him, “I was the first governor in the
South West and second in Nigeria to pay 18,000 minimum wage when it was agreed
upon, and I’m ready to pay the new 30,000 naira minimum wage to Ekiti State
workers.
Remarkable
is the fact that during the first tenure of Dr. Fayemi as Governor of Ekiti
State, he increased workers salary 3times in the space of 4years; he increased
their car and housing loan and introduced core subjects and rural allowance for
teachers in rural areas.
He
is therefore back to help get Ekiti State back on track with the development which
evaded them in the last 4years of Ayodele Fayose’s rule as Governor.
