NEMA DG, Mustapha Yunusa Mailhaja Says: We Paid N400 Million Naira Demurrage To Clear N414.8m Chinese Rice In 2018.

What exactly was the Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi talking about yesterday night on Channels TV’s “SUNDAY-POLITICS” with Seun Okinbaloye concerning the stopping of foreign rice importation into the country by the Federal Government?

The Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, Mustapha Mailhaja had recently claimed that in 2018, the agency spent a whopping “FOUR HUNDRED MILLION NAIRA” to clear “IMPORTED FOREIGN RICE” worth almost same amount “FOUR HUNDRED & FORTEEN MILLION NAIRA” in this same Nigeria where a Minister claimed on National Television that importation has stopped?

Look, if Amaechi had his figures right and had said to us, “the importation since President Muhammadu Buhari became president had reduced drastically”, it would have made a whole lot of sense to me than coming out to claim that importation had stopped when “FOREIGN AND IMPORTED RICE” still floods the market till today.

We are no fools anymore as some of these facts are in the open and no one can cajole us with lies in a country where information is at the beck and call of anyone who cares to know.

How can a country that spent N400Million Naira to clear foreign and imported rice worth only N414.8Million claim not to be importing rice?

Why would a Minister for Transportation usurp the powers of the Agriculture Minister to dabble into an area he has no authority on and made a mess of the whole exercise by making statements that negates the powers of the Minister for Agriculture.

I wish to state without mincing words that the Buhari Campaign Organisation should avoid sending Rt. Hon. Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi to represent it next time because the man is toooooooo flippant and has no control over what comes out of his mouth sometimes, as he left what he went to defend on Channels to start a war with his state Governor, Nyesom Wike.

Let him leave Nyesom Wike alone for now and sell President Muhammadu Buhari to us with the right information, instead of using every opportunity available to him to make inflammatory statements against the Governor of Rivers State, even when totally uncalled for.

His brand is President Muhammadu Buhari, let him sell him with accurate information and date, stop dragging other people with you please and ……. Next time, get your figures right so you don’t make mockery of the administration you serve.
