Let me present to your reading pleasure, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC in the forthcoming election, vying for a seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly, to represent Kosofe State Constituency 1.

His is, SANNI, GANIYU BABATUNDE OKANLAWON, Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode, on Food Security, one of the brains behind the now very popular “LAKE RICE”, a joint venture between Lagos State Government and Kebbi State.

He is a Lagosian, who has lived in Kosofe Local Government for over 40 years, roundedly educated, impressively intelligent, ably capable and evidently able to lead.

Okla as we all call him was born on the 28^th of March 1965, married, and has traversed through major sectors both in politics and in the corporate world, making impressive contributions to the development of human beings across board, now seeking to represent his people wouldn’t be less impressive, having occupied one of the most sensitive posts as SA on Food Security to one of the most active Governors in Nigeria

“What I intend to bring to the table is not just my academic and professional proficiency, in view of my status as a grass-roots oriented personality, deeply fore-grounded in the Kosofe politics and widely experienced in official capacities that cut across the local and state levels of politics and actual governance, and having served as the Secretary to Kosofe Local Government between 2004 and 2007 amidst numerous other offices, I have since undergone higher and more challenging leadership orientation, training, exposure and experience in my present office as Special Adviser to the Governor of Lagos State on Food Security”.

SANNI, GANIYU BABATUNDE OKANLAWON attended Victory High School, Ikeja, Lagos State Polytechnics, the prestigious Yaba College of Technology, Yabatech, where he read Accountancy, the University of Calabar, the Lagos State University where he got his Masters in Business Administration.

He has a certificate of Merit in Pension Administration and Management from the University of West Minister, London, a Fellow of Chartered Institute of Personnel Management, Chartered Institute of Local Government and Public Administration of Nigeria, Institute of Security, Nigeria, Nigerian Institute of Management, Institute of Entrepreneurs (IOE).

Mr. Okanlawon was at various times, Director of Administration, Milton Nelson Consulting, Zonal Manager for Taxation Accountancy Management and Consultancy Ltd, Secretary to Kosofe Local Government Area, Senior Executive Officer with the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation, Senior Tax Assistant with the Lagos State Board of Internal Revenue.

He has at various times since 1983, been member of different political partied before his arrival at the All Progressives Congress, APC in 2014. He was with Unity Party of Nigeria, UPN, Social Democratic Party, SDP, United Nigerian Congress Party, UNCP, Alliance for Democracy, AD and Action Congress of Nigeria.

Okla has participated greatly in the local politics that has helped shape the future he and others are enjoying today, haven worked hard from the grass-root where he played major roles in the elections that influenced the choice of the people on who their candidates are. Served as Chairman, Kosofe Local Government Congress Committee for Alliance for Democracy, Co-Secretary, Creation Committee in Kosofe Local Government, Member, Kosofe Local Government Councillorship Screening Committee, Coordinator, Campaign & Election Committee and Lagos State House of Assembly for Kosofe Constituency 1.

A fine mixer, team player, relentless and undying goal getter, whose life objective is to contribute to the growth and development of humanity using his God endowed talents and capacity built over the years.
