AKWA-IBOM 2019: TENSION AS UDOM THREATENS TO SACK MEMBERS OF HIS CAMPAIGN ORGANIZATION By Mbosowo Mkpong.

Governor Udom Emmanuel is threatening to sack members of his team over what he views as avoidable blunders, mishaps and a poor campaign, ahead of the 2019 gubernatorial elections.

This is following the botched solidarity rally of students hired to shore up his floundering campaign for re-election in Akwa Ibom State.

A source close to his Divine Mandate Campaign Organization who pleaded anonymity said Governor Udom was particularly incensed that his team allowed what was supposed to be a solidarity rally degenerate into a wild protest that led to vandalism, disruption of activities around Government House and injuries to innocent bystanders.

Saved for the intervention of men of the Nigeria Police, who shot sporadically into the air, the protest which lasted into night would have become uncontrollable.

Governor Udom was said to have lost his control, complaining that "what was supposed to coded" has become public knowledge, adding that Nsima Ekere, the main contender to the Government House seat, is running a scandal-free campaign.

"Now, everybody knows I am paying for people to rally for me, to support me. This nonsense must stop. Or all of you should leave, let me bring people from Lagos, people who will deliver," our source reported him as stating.

Udom Emmanuel was also reported to have complained about the video clips produced by Mr. Ekere which have gone viral on social media, stating that they make his rival look good, while his team was "messing up the simplest tasks. How can we win if you cannot help me to win?

"I will disband this team if you people are not going improve and give me something better than this nonsense," he was reported to have raged.
