BREAKING NEWS: Controversy Ravages The DAAR Communications “GOVERNOR OF THE YEAR” Award As Consultant/Director Presents Award To Emmanuel Udom Of Akwa-Ibom State In Bad Faith.

Controversy seem to have hit the organizers of the DAAR Governor of the Year Award, DAAR Communications Plc, owners of AIT, Raypower FM and Adaba FM some consultants to the award and a Director with DAAR, has overzealously presented the Governor Of The Year to Akwa-Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel without following due process.

In what seem to be a shocker, the Chairman of DAAR Plc, Raymond Dokpesi Jnr has refuted such callousness from a management staff whose name is given as Mr. John Iwarue, given the mandate to oversee the ceremony and see to it that the award is given to the most credible amongst all the nominees, but has hurriedly given it to someone whom the organization suspects to have parted with money to induce the Director.

Reliable information has it that Governor Udom Emmanuel who was nominated for the award of Outstanding Governor of the Year for his Industrialization of Akwa-Ibom State was written a letter of conferment by the Group Managing Director of DAAR Plc, Mr. Tony Akiotu on the 10th January, 2019, but following series of petitions against the Governor for alleged fraud in the establishment of a rice mill in Ini local government of the state, the Chairman of the board requested the award to be stepped down pending an independent investigation into the matter.

It was however very surprising that Mr. Iwarue and some other consultants working with the award planning committee proceeded to Akwa Ibom to confer the letter of award on the governor without approval and without the presence of any representative of the board.

It will be recalled that the Chairman of the Board had led a delegation of management and board of DAAR Plc to visit the governor of Rivers State, Barr Nyesom Wike just this Monday over this same award, raising eyebrows over why a management staff of the organization, Mr. Iwarue would rush behind, with a few consultants on the project to visit Udom Emmanuel?

To help salvage the situation and save the reputation of both DAAR Communications Plc and award itself, the management has therefore issued a warning to all concerning the activities of Mr. John Iwarue through scroll messages on its platform which stated …..“An Executive Director with DAAR Communications Plc, Mr. John Iwarue has been suspended following a breach of process in presenting an award to Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State”.

“All nominees are advised to stop all engagements with the above named officer”.

It is hopeful that DAAR Communications Plc’s Governor of the Year Award will be given to a more deserving personality with the credibility to march the prestigious award and not an inducing personality or personalities who want the award at all cost.
