"We are all members of this family and I would encourage everyone to ensure that, tomorrow, we conduct a free and fair election that will not put one family against another," he said.

When he voted, alongside his wife, Dr. Anna Brambaifa, atmosphere in and around Agbere town was peaceful and he addressed the press thereafter.

Trouble began as soon as he left the polling station, as youths mobilised to disrupt the electoral  process, attempting  to cart away election materials. It took the timely intervention of security personal in the area to repel the miscreants and avert bloodshed.

They resorted to destruction of ballot papers and vandalised cars, some of which belonged to aides of the NDDC Acting Managing Director.

Prof. Brambaifa expressed dismay, stating that he "is not interested in any tussle for power," adding that his primary concern is the development of the Niger Delta for which he was recently appointed.
