DELTA GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION: Niger-Delta Group Adopts O’Diakpo Obire For Governor.

The Delta State Progressive Peoples Alliance,PPA, gubernatorial candidate, Dr. O'Diakpo Obire has received a massive boost ahead of the March 09 governorship  election as the famous Niger Delta Youths, Women And Security Movement For Buhari (NYWSM-B) has thrown its full weight behind his governorship bid.


The meeting of this political pressure group, which is made up of members from the 25 local government areas of Delta State held on Thursday at the conference  hall of the prestigious Hobby Circle Hotels along Edoge street, Ughelli in Ughelli North local government area of the state.

In his welcome address, the National President of the group, Comrade Felix Ubokan applauded Dr. Obire and the members of his campaign team for the visit and assured him of the capacity of the group to give all necessary support for the victorious actualization of his governorship bid. 

"I want to assure you of all what it takes to deliver massive votes by mobilizing the electorate from the nooks and crannies of Delta State to en masse for the PPA to ensure a electoral victory in the March 09 elections in the state."

Adding, "we have the political structures and networks across Delta State to drive your governorship bid to victory.We believe in the credibility of a candidate, not a political party. Hence, we hereby passed a vote of confidence on your governorship candidacy because you're extremely competent to govern and set the state on the path of much desired economic prosperity and sustainable development for the benefit of Delta people if elected as Governor." Comrade Ubokan submitted.

In his remark, the Delta State PPA governorship candidate, Dr. O'Diakpo Obire thanked the members of the group for the privilege granted him and members of his campaign team to address them. He therefore asserted that he is vying for the Governor in order to reposition Delta State and rejig its economic and  infrastructural architectures. 

Adding that, "I am not running this race for fame nor fortune. But I am running because of my unflinching concern for the harrowing experiences Deltans,especially the teeming youths are passing through in the scheme of things."

Dr. Obire specifically said his PPA- led administration would evolve proactive measures to stem the economic and infrastructural challenges bedevilling Delta State if elected in the March 09 elections.

He also reiterated the commitment of his administration to create independent spirit in youths to pursue, develop their potentials and in turn become employers of labour.

Dr. Obire who unveiled his Economic Development Action Plan at the meeting with the members of group, explained that repositioning of Delta State is paramount to create a robust economy that is driven by sustainable development.

He further said that, his aspiration is fired and motivated by the spirit of service and the spirit to take back our state and economically empower Delta people. And to reposition the state properly to ensure abundant job opportunities to the benefit of all.

"If I am Governor, I will not only establish infrastructures that will benefit Deltans and also to establish to economic ventures that will generate more resources to the state," Dr. Obire assured.

Dr. Obire however solicited the support of Delta peoples to cast their votes en masse for him in the fast approaching general elections to achieve a New Delta that guarantees much desired economic prosperity and a shining model in the midst of other Nigerian States, promising to meet the yearnings and aspirations of the people if given the mandate, he submitted.

In his vote of thanks on behalf of the group, Comrade Benson Ofarn extolled the leadership qualities of Dr. Obire and prayed God to imbue him with more wisdom in his political pursuit and grant him protection. He therefore assured him of the maximum support of the group before and during the March 09 elections.
