The Governor
Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello today, congratulated the National Agency for
Food and Drugs Administration and Control, NAFDAC, and its management for their
tireless efforts in saving lives through their effective quality control
mechanism for over 24 years.
The
governor who was amongst Special Guests at NAFDAC’s reception to celebrate this
milestone of 25 years held at the presidential Villa, Abuja today, was full of
joy for the agency and had these words for them.
Yahaya
Bello: “I want to congratulate NAFDAC for their tireless dedication and
commitment in ensuring that adulterated drugs and food substances have no place
in our society today. They have been doing so for 25 years today irrespective
of various challenges the agency have been facing in the hands of smugglers so,
on a day like this, I join other well meaning Nigerians to congratulate the
agency for their untiring efforts in fight against fake drugs and adulterated
food substances”.
The
First Lady, Aisha Buhari received the Grand Diamond Award at the event, presented
to her by the Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II, while former
Director General of the agency, late Prof. Dora Akunyili was given a posthumous
lifetime achievement award which was received by her husband, Dr. Chike
Akunyili
