DELTA ELECTION 2019: PPA Governorship Candidate, Obire O’Diakpo Apeals To His APC Counter-Part, Ogboru, Others To Drop Cases Against Okowa.

Okowa, Obire & Ogboru.

The governorship candidate of the Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA) in the 2019 election, Dr. O'diakpo Obire, at the weekend, appealed to the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress and others that instituted cases against the incumbent Governor, Dr. Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa to drop their cases for the interest and growth of the State.

Obire made the appeal at the Otorho-Agbon, Headquarters of Ethiope East Local Government Area while congratulating Chief Ovedje Ogboru on his 61st Birthday. He said his appeal to Ogboru and others is based on the spirit of sportsmanship.

Dr. Obire and his Deputy, Engr Rex Biose were on a thank you tour of Delta Central Senatorial District, where he thanked the people for standing with them.

While calling for the understanding and cooperation of the governorship candidates, Obire pointed out that election cases are long-drawn and they retard the development of the State. He said many a time people allow certain things to go not because they cannot follow them through but because of the adverse effect they may have on the generality of the people, mostly when it has to do with election cases.

"Indubitably, every governorship candidate in the 2019 election has an issue, genuine or not, to grind with the winner. I have dropped whatever issues I may have had because of the larger interest of the State. I am therefore appealing to others to drop theirs too to enable the governor concentrate on the delivery of good governance", Dr. Obire said.

He said "peace is a sine quanon of development therefore we should not distract Dr. Okowa with tribunal cases. We should allow him to focus on governance to bring sustainable development to the State. Therefore, in the spirit of Easter that epitomizes love and forgiveness, I wish to call on my kinsman and elder brother, Chief Great Ogboru and other governorship candidates to 'sheath their swords', and support Okowa in the task of delivering good governance".
