Miss Hassana Lawan, of Bechi Village, reportedly poisoned 33-year-old Sale Abubakar on April 16 at about 2pm. She allegedly fed him a sumptuous meal garnished with rat poison.
Late Sale Abubakar was rushed to the Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital Kano for treatment while it was revealed that the housewife will be charged to court.
But Nigerians are calling for her release with the hashtag #FreeHassanaLawan.
According to Prof. Ikechi, an author, it is the husband who married a child bride that deserves arrest, not the "poor girl".
He tweeted:
"Free this poor girl. Jail all child rapists. To call the animal a husband is insulting to some of us who are husband. How the hell does one become the husband of a 15-year-old child?"
