Reporters, a civil society organization that monitors and reports hajj/umrah
activities in Nigeria, will on April 18, in Abuja, honour Governor Yahaya Bello
of Kogi state as the 2018 Hajj Governor of the year.
A statement jointly
signed by its national coordinator, Ibrahim Muhammed and the Planning Committee
Organizing Secretary, Mallam Garba Muhammad said the event is meant to show
appreciation to those who contributed to the tremendous achievements recorded
in hajj exercise in the past few years.
The organisation also
said that it has earlier constituted a screening committee to collate
performance of state Muslim pilgrims welfare boards with emphasis on the
responses of state governors to hajj and hajj-related memos to requests made by
their respective states Muslim pilgrims welfare boards before, during and after
2018 hajj exercise.
It said the outcome of
the screening committee shows that Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello has accorded top
priority to hajj issues as he always attends to hajj matter speedily.
According to the
statement, the Nigerian Hajj and Umrah Excellence Awards was launched in 2017,
with the maiden edition also recording a public presentation of hajj reporter’s
website, a groundbreaker in delivering hajj-related contents.
