DEPUTY SENATE PRESIDENT POSITION: O’Odiakpo Obire Calls On Urhobo Political Leaders & UPU To Support Omo-Agege, ...says It Would Be A Privilege To Have An Urhobo Son Occupy Such Position.

Omo-Agege & Obire.

The Governorship candidate of the Progressive People’s Alliance (PPA), in Delta State for the last general elections, Dr. O'diakpo Obire has called on Urhobo Political Leaders, Urhobo Progressive Union (UPU), and others to support Senator Ovie Omo-Agege for the position of Deputy Senate President in the forthcoming ninth national assembly.

Dr. Obire made the clarion call in Ughelli, on Tuesday, in a statement signed and released by his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Comrade Musa O'Karo Ugasa. He emphasized on the need for all Urhobo leaders, traditional and political, to forge a common front, to project Sen. Omo-Agege for the position.

Dr. Obire decried the prevailing situation in Urhobo where kiths and kin smear and succeed in pulling themselves down because of political disagreements or affiliation.

"Elections are over, it is time to close ranks and work to benefit the people. I solemnly appeal to all aggrieved Urhobo political leaders to put the interest of Urhobo first before self and sheathe their swords in the overall interest and advancement of Urhobo nation.

"The office of the Deputy Senate President has had tremendous impact on Enugu State, whence the current occupant hails. Sen. Omo-Agege's aspiration to the high office is for the benefit of not just the Urhobo people, but the entire Delta State. Therefore, he should be supported by all Deltans irrespective of their ethnic and political affiliations", the statement said.

Dr. Obire appealed to Urhobo traditional rulers to, as a matter of urgency, bring the feuding Urhobo political leaders to the negotiation table to amicably resolve their differences  to ensure the position does not elude the Urhobo nation.
