I Am Determined To Repair & Redirect The Actors Guild Of Nigeria, Says President, Emeka Rollas As He Inaugurates The Guild’s Constitution Review Committee.

The Members.
The Nigerian movie industry is yet in another drive to fully maximize the potentials inherent in her ability to reshape the association which has over the years, made good with the churning out of individuals who today, are standing examples of success, through dint of hard-work and steady improvements, which the new leadership of the industry’s overseeing association, AGN, has decided to improve upon through the constitution of a 10 man constitution review committee, to see to it that the structures and foundations of the guild is neatly fitted and its leaking roof properly fixed.

The Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN’s rule book says that the association must, every five years, review its constitution to bring in new sets of rules, improve on the ones that are working and emulate new inventions working in other climes to do just one thing, see to it that the industry not only progresses, but moves to the next level of its destination to be a world class industry amongst her peers in Africa.

In compliance with the rule of the association, the National President of the AGN, Mr. Emeka Rollas-Ejezie during the past week, constituted the committee with the responsibility of reviewing the constitution of the association with the assembly of some of the best hands in the industry with the requisite KNOW-HOW with the task to carry out the huge burden put before them and deliver.

President, Actors Guild of Nigeria.
Speaking at the event to introduce the members of the review committee to the Media, Mr. Emeka Rollas said that this is a dream come true for him as the current President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria at this point in time and that the AGN constitution which supposedly should be reviewed every five years has fallen into his time as President and that he is poised to take on the responsibility to show leadership by making sure that does the right thing in his time to make sure this is done and done well.

The essence of this exercise, the President of AGN says, is to officially inform our guild that this is a new dawn. We want to go down to the foundation of Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), repair what we can and redirect the guild moving forward. We thank God that this guild has been sustained till now, it is no longer about the old ways, we will add new trends.

We need to move with the trends. We also know that the film industry many years ago revolved around VHS, but today, technology has changed all of that and if we as actors cannot change with the change, we will remain stagnant, while people will come with different styles, rip us off, go their way and you won’t blame them.

The committee which is chaired by Barrister Kenneth Okonkwo, has members drawn from all sectors of the movie industry and they are, Bob Manuel Udokwu, Hon. Desmond Elliot, Ronnie Dikko, Keppy Ekpenyong Bassey, Edith Irabo Shola, Ajisafe Ayokunle, Ifeanyi Agility Onwurah, Barr. Ikechukwu Ezenagu and Hajia Salma Ibrahim.

While accepting his role as Chairman of the committee, Kenneth Okonkwo says that “It is a privilege to be appointed Chairman of this committee, and this is like homecoming to me, bringing in my experiences in both law and acting to bare for the improvement of the industry that has given me everything that I have today and I pledge to do my best to help harness not only the potentials of the guild, but also help bring in new ideas and trends to improve the industry.

I am elated and grateful that the guild through the President, Emeka Rollas found me and other members of this committee, worthy to do this job at this appointed time and we promise not to disappoint neither the President, nor the industry, as this is a give-back time to the industry that has given us so much.

On hand to give moral support was the former President if the AGN, Mr. Segun Arinze who acknowledged that the task before the Constitution review committee was a huge one, but encouraged them to do more while doing their job to make the constitution more endearing to up and coming actors in terms of welfare and protection of their rights and talents.
