Kardashian Baby Names & Their Meanings.

The Kardashian family tree grows taller every year, with momager Kris Jenner now boasting six children, four step-children (from Caitlyn Jenner's side) and TEN grandchildren – her latest, a baby boy born to Kim Kardashian and Kanye West via surrogate, arrived on May 9, 2019.

With Kim and Kanye now the proud parents of four, there's been even more Dashlets added to the klan.

So far, none of the Kardashians, or their partners, have picked especially common names for their youngsters.

What do each of their chosen baby names mean?

Kim Kardashian's children

North West

Birthday: June 15, 2013

Parents: Kim Kardashian and Kanye West

In the purest case of life imitating art, North's name actually came from media reports speculating about what Kim and Kanye would call their first-born.

As Kim later told GQ magazine:

"It was a rumour in the press and we'd never really considered it seriously, at all, but Kanye and I were having lunch right over there at that table about a year ago and Pharrell [Williams] came over to us and said, 'Oh, my God, are you guys really going to call your daughter North? That is the best name.' I said, 'No we're not, that's just a rumour."

She then had a similar encounter with the editor of US Vogue, which sealed the deal.

"Then a little while later Anna Wintour came over and asked the same thing. She told us, 'North is a genius name.' Kanye and I looked at one another and just laughed. I guess at that point it sort of stuck."

Kim's mum Kris Jenner also spoke about the meaning of the name, telling The View: "The way [Kim] explained it to me was that North means highest power and she says that North is their highest point together."

Saint West

Birthday: December 5, 2015

Parents: Kim Kardashian and Kanye West

While many speculated that Kimye would pick 'South' for their second baby, they actually went with something… even more ridiculous.

Saint is, of course, has religious connotations and goes with dad Kanye's Yeezus nickname – although there are two schools of thought as to why they picked the moniker.

One is that the proud parents wanted to confirm how much of a "blessing" it was to have a healthy son at the end of Kim's tricky pregnancy; the second is that it pays tribute to her late father.

"One of the reasons Kim and Kanye went with the name Saint is that it goes perfectly with the middle name they chose, ‘Robert’," a source told HollywoodLife at the time.

"Kim has always considered her dad to be a saint. So Saint Robert is ideal."

However, just like his big sister, Saint doesn't have an official middle name.

Chicago West

Birthday: January 15, 2018

Parents: Kim Kardashian and Kanye West

Chicago is Kimye's third child and was their first one born to a surrogate mother using their egg and sperm, as Kim suffered from a potentially life-threatening condition called placenta accreta with her previous pregnancies.

She arrived in early 2018 weighing 7lbs 6oz and her proud parents announced her name a few days later on Twitter and Kim's app.

It's thought their daughter is named after Kanye's hometown in a sweet tribute to his late mother. The city takes its name from a native American word for 'wild garlic', which used to grow prolifically in the Chicago area.

Chicago goes mostly by the nickname Chi, pronounced 'shy', her aunt Khloe revealed on Twitter.

Psalm West

Birthday: May 9, 2019

Parents: Kim Kardashian and Kanye West

Kim and Kanye once again turned to a surrogate mother to bear their fourth child, Psalm West.

The baby news was revealed on May 10 when Kim tweeted: "He's here and he's perfect. He's also Chicago's twin lol I'm sure he will change a lot but now he looks just like her."

They announced his name a few days later on Twitter, with Kanye adding the sweet message: "Beautiful Mother's Day with the arrival of our fourth child.

"We are blessed beyond measure. We have everything we need."

The name Psalm comes from the Hebrew for 'song' and also means 'sacred poem', after the Book of Psalms in the Bible.

It represents Kanye and Kim's recent spiritual resurgence, amid rumours Kanye is planning to start his own church and fits in with Psalm's brother Saint.

During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Kim said her babies usually remains nameless for the first days of their life, as she gets a feel for their personality.

Khloe Kardashian's children

Name: True

Birthday: April 12, 2018

Parents: Khloe Kardashian and Tristan Thompson

It's thought Khloe gave birth to True Thompson at 4am on Thursday 12 April with Tristan by her side.

Khloe went straight into labour after seeing a video of the father of her baby kissing a girl in a nightclub.

She decided to forgive him after several pictures and videos emerged suggesting he had kissed and potentially engaged in sexual relations with other women while she was days away from giving birth.

True is an English baby name that means Loyal.

Kylie Jenner's children

Name: Stormi

Birthday: February 1, 2018

Parents: Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott

Kylie kept her pregnancy a complete secret, even after her own father Caitlyn Jenner confirmed the news in late 2017.

But she didn't do the same with the name, revealing on Tuesday that she's called her firstborn Stormi. She is yet to reveal the meaning behind the name, but fans believe it could have been inspired by Doctor Who!

She gave birth in February at the age of 20 and confirmed the happy news with an emotional video documenting her pregnancy, baby shower and labour, which was attended by her mum and sisters.

In a statement accompanying the video, Kylie revealed why she kept the news to herself.

"I'm sorry for keeping you in the dark through all the assumptions," she told fans.

Kourtney Kardashian's children

Mason Dash Disick

Birthday: December 14, 2009

Parents: Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick

Mason was the first children born to the Kardashian sisters, with mum Kourtney choosing not to pass on the family tradition of picking monikers beginning with 'K'. Mason comes from the French for stonemason – someone who builds using stone – and was first used in the Middle Ages. It's become the third most popular name in the US in 2016.

Kourtney also gave Mason the middle name Dash as a shortened version of her own surname – and the name of the sisters' popular boutique chain, though Kourtney cleared up those rumours soon after he was born.

"Dash is not for my clothing store, as some people have suggested online," she told Life & Style magazine in 2010.

"That would be stupid. Dash is short for Kardashian, and it was my father's nickname."

She added that Mason was the only name she liked when she was looking at baby names and said it stuck with her throughout her pregnancy.

Penelope Scotland Disick

Birthday: July 8, 2012

Parents: Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick

Penelope means 'weaver' in Greek and was the name of the character in The Odyssey who waits patiently for 20 years for her husband to return from sea. It can be shortened to Penny, Nell, Nellie and Poppy, although her parents and aunts tend to call her 'P'.

"Her name is Penelope," she told him.

"No, her name is sister," he replied.

Reign Aston Disick

Birthday: December 14, 2014

Parents: Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick

Reign – pronounced 'rain' – is an English version of the French règne, meaning the 'rule of sovereign'. It can be used for boys and girls, although the female version is usually spelt Reyne.

Aston comes from the Anglo-Saxon name Athelstan, meaning 'king', so little Reign actually has two regal-sounding names.

Kourtney explained her decision behind the name, saying she has always waited for her babies to be born before she settles on one.

"I actually had the name on our list with Mason," she told People magazine. "Then with Penelope, I had it on the list but spelt Rain.

"Once I found out I was having a boy, we just changed the spelling again," she added.

Rob Kardashian's children

King Cairo Stevenson

Birthday: October 16, 2012

Parents: Blac Chyna and Tyga (Rob Kardashian was his stepfather)

The Anglo-Saxon name King means ruler, although the name actually has Germanic and Old English roots in the word cyng.

Dad Tyga may have been inspired by rapper T.I's naming of his son Clifford Joseph III, who also goes by King.

Tyga has also used the royal title to refer to himself over the years, and his girlfriend Kylie Jenner – who, confusingly, is also aunt to Chyna's baby girl Dream – has been referring to herself as King since she started dating him.

It's not known why the parents chose Cairo for the little boy's middle name.

Dream Renee Kardashian

Birthday: November 10, 2016

Parents: Blac Chyna and Rob Kardashian

A source told People magazine how 'Dream' may have come about, revealing: "Rob and Chyna had the name Dream for a long time. They named her Dream because they’ve always said she’s a dream come true."

Chyna also passed down her own middle name to her daughter. Renee is from the French for 'reborn', and as Chyna's real name is Angela Renee White, she thought it a fitting tribute.
