The
Delta State Progressive People’s Alliance (PPA), gubernatorial candidate in the
recently concluded 2019 general elections, Dr. O'diakpo Obire has lauded the
Governor of Delta State, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa for the important step he has taken
in signing the Warri/Uvwie and Environs Development Agency Bill into law.
Dr.
Obire opined that this noble step will urgently address social and
infrastructure challenges of Warri, Effurun and environs and midwife an
accelerated urban renewal in the area.
Obire,
in a statement on Friday released by his Media Office and signed by his Special
Assistant on Media and Publicity, Comrade Musa O'Karo Ugasa, said Governor
Ifeanyi Okowa and the Delta State Government deserve commendation.
“Governor
Ifeanyi Okowa deserves commendation for taking an uncommon step towards speedy
urban renewal in the Greater Warri Area by signing the Warri/Uvwie and Environs
Development Agency Bill into law.
"By
this visionary decision, the Governor has scored another first in ensuring the
major commercial towns get urgent attention for renewal. The expected urban
renewal will boost economic activities in the area and create numerous jobs.
"It
is obvious even to the unwary that Gov. Okowa is a visionary, given his
innovative programs designed to sustainably develop the State. My appeal to
him, however, is to ensure that he appoints competent hands with the mental
capacity and character to drive his laudable programs to fruition", the
statement concluded.
