The
President, Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Mele Kyari to replace the current
Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC),
Maikanti Baru, whose removal has also been approved.
This
appointment is the second since the President take over in 2015, with Ibe
Kachikwu, who was removed on controversial circumstances, though later made
Minister of State, Petroleum, but only under the President who is the Minister
of Petroleum.
Mele
Kyari resumes July 7 and information has it he might not be related with the
President’s former Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari.
He
is currently the General Manager, Crude Marketing Division of the NNPC.
