The Governorship candidate of the Progressive People
Alliance (PPA), in the last general elections in Delta State, Dr. O'diakpo
Obire, has heartily felicitated with Senator Ahmed Lawan and Senator Ovie Omo -
Agege on their emergence as President and Deputy President of the Senate in the
9th. National Assembly.
Obire, in a statement in Abuja on Tuesday released by his
Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Comrade Musa O'Karo Ugasa, lauded the
Senators for their choices of Ahmed Lawan and Ovie Omo - Agege as Presiding
Officers of the 9th National Assembly, noting that the duo will bring their
experiences to bear in the discharge of their legislative duties.
Dr. Obire also congratulated other senators for their
victory at the 2019 polls and urged them to leverage on their knowledge and
understanding of law-making to make a Nigeria a better place.
“I want to appeal to all members of the 9th National
Assembly to work harmoniously with the Executive Arm of government to deliver
good governance to Nigerians".
The electorate have entrusted you with this special
mandate, the least you can do for them is to ensure that the 9th. National
Assembly make sound laws for the good governance that will guarantee the
security of lives and properties and the enhancement of the living standard of
the citizenry", he said.
“On behalf of my teeming supporters across Delta State, I
congratulate one of the illustrious sons of Delta State, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege
on his emergence as the Deputy President of the Senate in the 9th National
Assembly and I wish him Godspeed", the statement concluded.
