Spanish Tennis champion, Rafael Nadal, 33, has won a record 12th French Open title after beating Austria's Dominic Thiem in four sets in the final tournament of the 2019 French Open.

Nadal, the world No 2 defeated the 25-year-old Austrian opponent & world No 4,   6-3, 5-7, 6-1, 6-1 in exactly three hours to claim his victory at the Court Philippe Chatrier this evening.

This now apparently makes him the first player to win a dozen titles on the same court (Margaret Court won her 12 Australian Opens at different venues), putting him four clear of Roger Federer’s eight at Wimbledon and Novak Djokovic’s seven in Melbourne.

The win for him, also means he now has 18 Grand Slam, (French Open - 12, US Open - 3, Wimbledon - 2 and Australian Open - 1).

Speaking on his win, he said: 'Congrats to Dominic, I feel sorry because he deserves it, I really hope he wins in future. He has unbelievable intensity and passion for this sport. I want to encourage him.
