The
new Commander, Army Records Command, Chari Maigumeri Barracks Lokoja ,
Major General Bamidele Olaleke Ogunkale has commended the governor of Kogi
State, Yahaya Bello in his effort in maintaining peace and security in the
state.
The
military officer made the commendation while on a courtesy visit to the
governor in his office at the Lugard House, Lokoja on Monday, June 17.
Ogunkale
who was accompanied by his predecessor, Major General Nwabueze Njoku,
said Yahaya Bello has done well in maintaining peace and security in Kogi State
and thanked the governor for his support to the various security agencies in
the state.
While
welcoming the military officer on his deployment to Kogi State, Governor Bello
promised to continue to partner with the Nigerian Army and other security
operatives to ensure a crime-free society and thanked Major General Njoku for
his diligent service while in Kogi State and wished him success in his career.
As
a Captain, Major General Ogunkale was the Officer Commanding Field Engineer
Squadron of the 7 Nigerian ECOMOG Brigade that Captured the St Johns Bridge
which was prepared for reserved demolition during the ECOMOG operation in
Liberia in 1993.
He
also captured alive the Colonel that was to blow up the demolition. This
brought accolades to the Nigerian led ECOMOG operation. He has to his credit
medals and awards of Forces Service Star, Meritorious Service Star,
Distinguished Service Star, General Service Star, Passed Staff College, Mali
and the Chief of Army Staff Commendation award.
He
is also a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Fellow Nigeria
Metallurgical Society, Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Mechanical
Engineers, Fellow of the National Defence University Islamabad Pakistan, Fellow
of the Institute of Industrialist and Cooperate Administrators, Chartered
Engineer with the Council for the Regulations of Engineering in Nigeria and
Distinguish Leadership Award in National Development by ICON Milestone.
He
is taking over from Major General Nwabueze Njoku as Commander, Army Records, Chari
Maigumeri Barracks, Lokoja.
