The attention of the
Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello and the State Government, has been drawn to a malicious story going
round on social media with the rider; Breaking ICPC and EFCC set to invite 21
Local Government Caretaker Chairmen and Director Of Local Government in Kogi
State over the illegal withdrawal of 90million each from the 21 Local
Government Areas Of Kogi State.
This politically
motivated falsehood with intent to mislead the people should be ignored by the
general public as it is unfounded and not true.
His Excellency, Yahaya
Bello has always practiced autonomy for Local Government Areas in the state
even before the new Nigerian Financial Intelligent Unit, NFIU directive and
cannot start to undo such a transparent approach to governance now that it is
backed by Executive Order.
If the spurious
petition and petitioners are found to be real, the State Government may
consider appropriate legal actions against the perpetrators for such making and
spreading fake news which constitutes cybercrimes.
