Dr.
Obire through a press statement on the 26th of June, 2018, announced
his decision to withdraw his membership of the APC due to what he described
then as “protracted and intractable rancor“ between two factions that rocked
the party over the control of its leadership in Delta State and as one of the
frontline Governorship aspirants, he decided to seek the actualization of his
dreams elsewhere, hence, the PPA
Receiving
him at the party's Ward 05 Secretariat in Ovu, the APC Ward Chairman, Chief
Anibor Ukavwe, the Exco members and notable party leaders applauded his
decision to return to the party, saying that Obire is a political asset that
would boost the strength of APC in Ethiope East LGA and Delta State at large.

According
to Chief Ukavwe, “Our son is back son and we are here happy to receive his
home-coming.
Responding,
the very elated Obire said he had to return to the party after a brief
sabbatical to run for the Governorship of the state on the platform of the Progressive
People’s Alliance, PPA, but ensured that all his supporters across Delta State
voted for President Muhammadu Buhari and the Delta Central APC Senatorial Candidate,
Senator Ovie Omo – Agege as a matter of duty and service to his people during
the presidential and National Assembly elections.

Obire further called on the leadership of the party in Delta State to ensure
the continuous maintenance of the peace and unity already existing in the party
at the moment and give maximum support to party members elected and, or
appointed into various offices so they can discharge their statutory duties and
responsibilities diligently for the overall benefit of the people.
The
major highlight of the event was the revalidation of his membership of All
Progressives Congress, APC, as he was formally welcomed back by all members
into the party in Delta State.
