Meet Yahaya Bello, The Governorship Candidate Of The “All Progressives Congress”, APC, In The November 16th Governorship Election In Kogi State.

Yahaya Bello.

His name is Yahaya Bello, the current Governor of Kogi State, in the North Central Geopolitical Zone of Nigeria. 

He was a prominent Nigerian entrepreneur with diverse and humongous investments interest spread across several sectors of the Nigeria's economy before the rampant corruption of the political class, the suffering of the ordinary citizen, and his belief in President Muhammadu Buhari as the Change Agent for Nigeria motivated him into a successful foray into politics.

Born on 18th June, 1975 in Agassa, Okene Local Government Area of Kogi State, he spent most of his childhood in his native Kogi State during which period he completed his early education before leaving to earn secondary and tertiary education qualifications away from home. 

Yahaya Bello bagged an outstanding Bachelors Degree in Accounting and an MBA in Business Administration from the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University. He threw himself with uncommon patriotic ardour into his duties at the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) where he was posted for the mandatory 1-year National Youth Service Corps, where he distinguished himself as an intelligent worker and was rewarded with retention into full employment by the Commission at the completion of his NYSC.

Bello refused to rest on his laurels and quickly became a Chartered Fellow of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) in 2004 while also excelling at his official duties, earning him very rapid fire promotions within a short time, running up the ranks through Revenue officer, Revenue Officer II, Accountant and became Head of the Accounts Department at the Makurdi Zonal Office of the commission.

His dedication to duty soon catapulted him to the commanding heights of a Civil Service career at a relatively young age when he was promoted Assistant Chief Accountant of the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) of Nigeria.

Becoming a consistent and fearless investor early in his civil service career years, and with the then very lucrative Nigerian Stock market, a personal favourite of his, he distinguished himself a judge of good opportunities, and managed to grow a nest egg. Shockingly, Yahaya Bello took the bull by its horn when he took the boldest of steps to voluntarily resign from the Civil Service to becoming a full-time entrepreneur.

His growing successes then as a budding entrepreneur afforded him the opportunity to comfortably aspire and later ran for Governor of Kogi State in 2015 under the umbrella of the governing All Progressives Congress (APC), a venture which meant just one-thing, that is, “he is not beholden to any vested interest and could boldly declare, as he did at his Inauguration, that he will ‘...not service the avarice of any individual or group of persons’ and that he will make ‘...the entirety of Kogi State’s resources work for the entirety of Kogi People’. 

These pledges continue to actuate his official policies and actions.

Yahaya Bello is Chairman and Founder, Kogi Youths Arise Group, a political Think-Tank which swept him into Office as the youngest state Governor in Nigeria, and today, with the twin tenets of ‘not too young to run’ and a New Direction Agenda’ away from the atrocious governance styles of the past, he remains its principal inspirator till this day even as it transmutes into a national movement inspiring savvy youth across Nigeria into political involvement for the accelerated development of their Fatherland. 

It is worthy of note that Yahaya Bello is the recipient of many awards from prestigious institutions, both within Nigeria and internationally. It is however a measure of his values that one of the most cherished is the first ever Inspector-General of Police Award for Excellence In Security Governance. It was an award exclusively bestowed on him by Nigeria's top cop for his Administration's successes in turning Kogi State from the most insecure state in Nigeria, bedevilled by rampant kidnappings and violent crimes on a daily basis, into the safest state in the country today - and within just one year of taking Office.

Alhaji Yahaya Bello is a philanthropist of note, who, long before he was elected Governor, was already deploying his personal funds to run three orphanage homes while sponsoring scores of undergraduate and post graduate students in various higher institutions within and outside Nigeria.

He is a devout Muslim by birth, a Christian by association as he one of those governors you would call a “BROTHER” amongst Christians, because of his liberality and love for people of other religious inclinations, that majority of times, without being told, one would mistake him to be a devout Christian.
