Only recently, Nollywood actor and role interpreter, Stanley Igboanugo got married to his best friend, in the traditional way, a way he feels is the best form of marriage between a man and woman as an Igboman.
According to the actor, "I have done my wedding, though in the traditional way and I believe very strongly that what I did is the best form of marriage in Igboland, which I needed to kick-start to show example of how marriage should be done by Igbos".
Stanley Says: “Yes oo, I needed to start from myself
first before preaching to people that white wedding is a duplication of
traditional wedding”.
“You
go to your spouse’s village, do the rightful thing, the family hands over their
daughter to you, to show that you have performed all the right's and now we
come back, go to church and start same process again. If we can tell ourselves
the truth, why is it that before a Rev father or Pastor weds anyone, they
always would make sure you did your traditional marriage?.
That's
the part that makes me feel so bad about this whole white wedding of a thing
and some people now make it look as if God did not endorse traditional
marriage.
Even
the Bible endorses traditional marriage, which really is the koko.
