Governor
Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has congratulated Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of
Kano State on his victory at the Supreme Court on Monday, describing it as well
deserved.
Bello,
in a statement issued on Monday by his Chief Press Secretary, Onogwu Muhammed,
said the verdict of the five-man panel of Justices of the Supreme Court led by
Justice Sylvester Ngwuta, affirming Ganduje as the validly elected governor of
Kano State has laid to rest all the legal fireworks that trailed the earlier
mandate given to him by the people of the state.
He
described the Supreme Court verdict as victory not only for Ganduje and Kano
people but for the entire ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) family across
the federation, describing Ganduje as one of the strong pillars of the ruling
APC, adding that his enormous role in the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari
in the last presidential election could not be over emphasized.
"With
your victory at the Supreme Court, you can now fully settle down to face the
business of governance and delivery of more dividends of democracy to the good
people of Kano State.
"I
urge the good people of Kano State to give Governor Ganduje the needed supports
and cooperation to enable him consolidate on the laudable projects and
programmes he has started as well as those he plans to embark upon for the
overall good of the people.
"I
congratulate you once again and pray that the Almighty Allah would continue to
protect and keep you in good health to enable you deliver on your campaign
promises for the people of Kano State during this your second term in
office", the governor said in the statement.
In
another development, the Governor congratulated the Governor
of Plateau State Governor and Chairman, Northern Governors' Forum, Simon Bako
Lalong on his victory at the Supreme Court.
According to him, the
fact that Governor Lalong won all his cases right from the Tribunal, through to
Appeal and now, the apex court was clear manifestations that his mandate gotten
from the Plateau people remains unshakable.
