A mother has revealed that she showers with her adult daughter every morning and. even takes the time to scrub her back and wash her hair as if she is still a little girl.
Mary, 55, and Brittani, 19, from Jensen Beach, Florida, are one of the six uncomfortably close mother-daughter duos documenting their over-the-top relationship on the second season of TLC's hit reality series Mothered.
'I have been taking showers and helping Brittani since she was five,' Mary says in a preview clip from the series, which premieres on Sunday.
Mary can be seen hopping in the shower with her daughter, telling her to 'move it over, baby,' as she steps inside and closes the sliding door.
'Ah, that feels so good,' she says when the hot water hits her.
'The best way to start our day is in the shower,' Mary explains in her testimonial.
The mom takes over shampooing Brittani's hair for her and then asks her to stay still so she can also scrub her back with soap.
'You need to tan or something, honey. You're so white,' Mary tells her daughter as she washes her.
While some would find Mary's behavior overbearing, Brittani insists she is happy about their daily shower routine.
'When my mom does simple things like washing my hair or my body, it makes me feel comforted,' she explains.
Mary is also content with their situation and doesn't care if anyone thinks it's weird.
'I love her, and I don't see anything wrong with it,' she says, though she admits she never imagined she would be this close to her daughter.
'I don't believe I set out to have a relationship this close to Brittani,' she says. 'It's something that was supposed to be.'
Their intense bond has gotten in the way of Mary's relationship with her live-in boyfriend, Frank, who reveals in the trailer for the show that he thinks it's time for Brittani to move out.
'It has caused some issues in my relationship, but he’s got to accept it,' Mary told The Post. 'That’s how it is. He knows I love him, but I love my daughter more — she’s my life.'
