Former Chairman, Lagos State Branch of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN and CEO of  TechTV Nigeria, Don Pedro Aganbi, has donated face masks and hand sanitizers to aid the fight against the novel Coronavirus pandemic as part of his birthday celebration.

Don Pedro Aganbi who made the donation to the Iya Oloja of Bariga Market, Princess Abiodun Jagunmolu said that the idea is also in support of the #MaskLagos campaign by the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

According to him, “If you follow my yearly birthday celebrations, you know we always empower the less privileged people in our society but this year is special and different. We are in the midst of a global pandemic and we have decided to donate face masks and hand sanitizers to market leaders because the market is a very important segment in the fight against community spread of the virus and we are by this initiative engaging the market leaders to further create awareness among their members on Covid-19.

"All you need is pay a visit to our markets, the use of face mask, washing of hands regularly, social distancing and even sanitization is almost non-existence and the government can’t create this awareness alone, it has to be a collective effort and responsibility and this is our modest contribution" Aganbi said.

Receiving the donation, the Iya Oloja of Bariga market markets thank Don Pedro and his team for the kind gesture.

She says, “If I remember correctly, this is the first time an individual or organization will make this kind of donation and this would certainly go a long way to help spread the awareness because coronavirus is real. I will distribute these sanitizers and face masks immediately. If the sellers have the sanitizers by their sides it will help them to always sanitize their hands at intervals. I am happy you thought of Bariga market because it is one of the most important markets in Lagos" elated Iya Oloja said.

Don Pedro Aganbi also used the medium to thank the Chairman, Ojez Group of Companies, Engr. Joseph Odobeatu, High Chief Nosa Obakpolo, CEO, Global Shipping & Gas Investments Limited, Chief Mrs. Onos Nakpodia, Chairman, Bluehills International and Mallam Dahatu Ishaq for supporting and donating over 5000 face masks and hand sanitizers toward this initiative to fight COVID-19.
