The Lagos State Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, Chief Mrs. Yetunde Arobieke has expressed the satisfaction of the State Government with the Conditional Cash Transfer initiative of the Federal Government recently extended to the State.

Arobieke asserted that the programme will further boost the standard of living of the poor masses in Lagos, just as it will ease hardship and hunger in the other benefiting States.

Speaking during an interview on Lagos State Traffic Radio, the Commissioner said that following the successful completion of a four-day rigorous training for selected staff of Local Government Councils within the State in April, the officials had since commenced the enrolment of would-be beneficiaries of the initiative.

She acknowledged the commitment of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to the realisation of the programme, applauding his insistence on holding the training exercise in Lagos to enable residents benefit from the Federal Government's initiative.

Revealing that the programme was abridged to accommodate the education of indigent people, Mrs. Arobieke also expressed satisfaction with the performance of both the Master Trainer and Facilitators who administered the training exercise.

“The delegates from the Federal government, who trained our local government officials, are very knowledgeable about the job and thus brought their professionalism into play during the training,” the Commissioner stated.

She disclosed that 33 States in Nigeria had also keyed into the initiative which will include the completion of questionnaires by all prospective beneficiaries in line with World Bank standards.

Commenting on the distribution of COVID-19 Food Relief Package,  Arobieke avowed that no State does it better than Lagos, considering the way and manner the government was able to reach out to all organised groups and associations across the State.

The Commissioner, who also supervised the distribution of relief materials in her Local Council Development Area, Agboyi- Ketu, and to members of the Lagos State Council for Tradesmen and Artisans, LASCOTA, affirmed that the palliatives were distributed to most residents of the Council and several artisans in the State.
