This
is the best thing that has ever happened to many sports talented Deltans and
Nigerians and we all stand confidently to say “THANK YOU PRINCE NED NWOKO” for
bringing the premiere University of Sports in the whole of Sub-Sahara Africa to
our doorstep.
This
is a huge blessing to the entire Delta State, Delta North in particular and
Nigeria as a whole, and in this University, the 'would be' students, will be required
to take up one sporting activity as part of the basic criteria to study for a
degree.
For
instance, a medical student can add football and get trained as a medical
football star; a law student can decide to take up sports law as part of his or
her practical academic concentration, as you can decide to study accounting but
take up swimming as your practical elective; etc etc...
Another
astonishing give-away by Ned Nwoko, the founder of the Stars University is the
assurance that no child from his immediate constituency, in Delta North would
be allowed to go uneducated, to atleast, University level, and so, his promise
to them is that, for any of them and those from the whole of Delta State who
distinguishes themselves academically through interviews and in any sports
activity will automatically qualify for instant scholarship to study for a full
degree.
This
is the first of its kind and many believe that when completed, the University
will encourage professional sports development in Delta state and Nigeria.
Idumuje
Ugboko is blessed to have a humble and foresighted personality like Ned Nwoko
who could have easily located the University to places of more profitability
anywhere in Africa, especially when we know of Nigerians whose schools are
situated in Benin Republic, Ghana and other neighboring countries, but for the
love of his people, decided to bring them from their hidden places and put them
on the map of the world.
