Who Leaves A $30Billion Investments & Close Shop - Shoprite Ask As She Debunks News Of Her Purported Plan Of Leaving Nigeria.

The management of Shoprite has debunked a report which says that it is preparing to exit Nigeria.

In some reports which went viral, the retail giant was said to be preparing their exit plans after its business outside South Africa recorded losses, but speaking to Vanguard News, Country Director for Chastex Consult, Ini Archibong, stated that it only gave Nigerians the opportunity to invest in the company.

According to him, “Shoprite is not leaving Nigeria, rather, “We have only just opened to Nigerian investors which we have also been talking to just before now, so, who leaves over a $30billion investment and close shop? It doesn’t sound right.

“We only just given this opportunity to Nigerian investors to come in and also help drive our expansion plan in Nigeria. So we are not leaving.

“I have tried to say this as too many people as I can. There should be no panic at all and all of that. There is no truth in that report.”
