Were You Told That In Kogi State, A Physically Challenged Man Is A Councilor, With 21 Female Vice Chairmen In All The LGA’s?.

Yahaya Bello with Mohammed Ogiri.

Following the inauguration of 21 Local Government Chairmen and 21 LG female vice chairmen across the 21 local government areas of Kogi State, a physically challenged man who goes by the name Mohammed Ogiri has commended the Governor of the state, Yahaya Bello for his spirit of inclusiveness in Governance.

Precious Eze’s Blog learnt the governor supported the physically disabled young Kogite to become councilor in his own ward at Okene local government of the State, making him the first, if not the only, in both Kogi and Nigeria, setting the pace for the inclusion of all citizens regardless of their physical challenges.

Infact, the governor made sure that not only were the Vice Chairmen women, but female councilors were also elected across various wards in the just concluded local government elections in Kogi state.

This singular act has made 35% women participation in politics affirmative in Kogi State, making the state, the only state to have achieved such fit for women in Nigeria.

Yahaya Bello by this act, has raised the bar for other states to emulate, both in women participation in politics and in inclusiveness of all human beings in governance.

In Kogi, one can become anything irrespective of who you are, the family you came from, your social status or your physical appearance.

The spirit of Yahaya Bello is possible if we all join hands.
