The just concluded Eko Star Film and TV Awards held in Lagos is generating a lot of concerns amongst Nollywood practitioners who are very disgruntled with the organizers of the events for not including a few of them, especially the women who are doing well in their craft.
One of those who have spoken out is actor and producer, Ruth Kadiri, who used her Instagram space to voice her displeasure over the choice of the award ceremony organizers not to include them.
She
wrote “I am a film maker. I am a woman, I am a
hardworking woman. I have faced the struggles every woman/filmmaker has faced”,
“Did my name at any point pop up? Yes, but because I do not belong to a click.
Yet again I have been over looked.”
Controversial female actor, Angela Okoris took the matter to another level even as other actors wrote to console Ruth Kadiri, Angela took the words off the hook and wrote “Award in Nigeria is Rubbish. We are seeing those that are working hard, not all this Industry Prostitutes, as in Ashawoooos.”
What Angela’s reaction mean is that truly, there are prostitutes
in the industry and one wonders if she is their headmaster and we sure know she
should have their names and we expects those names soon if she wouldn’t mind.
