The People's Democratic Party, PDP, in ward 5, Awuyemi/Imiegiele/Imiagwese and the Etsako East Local Government have risen to defend their own son, former Commissioner for Information in the State, Prince Kassim Afegbua over his purported expulsion from the party.
In a meeting held by the Local Government Executives of the party in Esatko LGA, the executives resolved as follows and their resolution was communicated to the State Chairman of the party.
According to their resolution which was contained in the letter with Ref No, PDP/LT/VOL1/004/2021 dated 23rd May, 2021 saying that consequent upon this, we, the Local Government Areas Executives of Etsako East hereby resolve that we are not aware of any prior resolution wherein Prince Kassim Afegbua was expelled, neither did we expel him from the party.
According Dirisu Abudu, the ward Chairman for ward 5 of the PDP, another letter was written to the Etsako LGA Chairman of the party where he stated that "We have gone through our records carefully and we see that Kassim Afegbua was suspended on the 2nd of August 2020 by ward 5 PDP for one month because of his infraction against the party and that after the Ward gave him suspension, he was accordingly re-admitted into the party according to the party's constitution.
He has since been a financial member of the party and has been participating in the Ward party activities. Since then, we have not heard neither are we aware of any resolution or communique for the expulsion of Prince Kassim Afegbua.
The letters were signed by the Executives of the party in both the Local Government and Ward 5 of the People's Democratic Party, PDP.
