Mr. Taiwo Akerele, former Chief of Staff to Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki has been elected Chairman of the Federal Capital Territory chapter of the Association of Nigerian Authors in the election which held on Saturday, April 8, 2021, in Abuja at the association headquarters.
Taiwo
was unanimously returned and in his acceptance speech shortly after his victory
was declared, Akerele said:
“Today
I stand before God and my fellow Comrades in the pen profession to accept my
unanimous election as the chapter chairman of this Noble pen profession on this
day the 8th of May 2021 here in the beautiful city serene city of Mpape, in the
historic Mamman VATSA writers village.
“I
am motivated by the article 3 status of the association constitution which
states inter alia that the association shall nonprofit, nongovernment,
nondiscriminatory, nonpolitical.
“Non-ethical,
non-religious, non-aligned, non-racial, multidimensional, philanthropic,
innovative, creative, democratic, educative, informative, social, and above all
God-fearing.
“These
ideals and principles and philosophy of our founding fathers is exactly what I
stand for and I will pursue with vigor and enthusiasm along with my newly
elected EXCO.
“I
commend the outgoing exco led by Mrs. Lois Adams for their sacrifice and
commitment to promoting the ideals of the association to the highest standards
possible.
“I
appreciate the impartiality and transparency of the electoral umpire in the
conduct of the elections which has resulted in this very well organized and
hitch-free process.
“We
appreciate the members and delegates that vitae for us overwhelming and for the
confidence reposed in this team to repositioned this organization for better
service impact in the pen profession.
“We
shall work closely with the national body in line with the dictates of the
constitution to ensure we achieve the objectives of this organization in a very
lofty manner that will bring happiness to the generality of its members
nationwide, I used this medium to call on members to close ranks, give this
EXCO a chance to reconcile each and every one of us.
“I
equally call on the FCT administration to strengthen the security around
schools and all learning environment and institutions in Abuja to foreclose the
possibility of any attack, abduction, and or kidnapping of students or pupils
by criminal elements as ANA is ever ready to partner with government to promote
a safe learning environment in the beautiful capital territory of Abuja.
“On
this note, we have agreed to immediately commence the onerous task ahead
without any waste of time. We shall unveil our transformation road plan in the
next few days.
“Thank
you very much for the opportunity given to us to serve.”
