A Commissioner in the Kogi State Pension Board, Mr. Solomon Akeweje was said to have been murdered by gunmen yesterday on his way to Kabba back from Illorin, the capital of Kwara State.
He was said to be travelling with Pius Kolawole, the Chairman of the Yagba West Local Government Area who according to sources, were ambushed and shot dead by his assassins near Eruku.
However, Kolawole, who was with him when the gunmen attacked them, has been missing since the incident. According to local media, the council Chairman may have been abducted by the gunmen as the Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Ayuba Ede, had announced the death of the pension board commissioner on Sunday.
The Commissioner of Police, Ede said the incident happened in Kwara State’s Eruku general region, but that the command was already looking into the matter and would make information available through the media as it comes.
