Kogi State Governor, His Excellency Yahaya Bello on Sunday played host to former Chelsea Midfielder and captain of the Super Eagles, John Mikel Obi.
While interacting with the governor, the 2012 Champions League winner, 2 times Premier league and 3-times FA cup winner said he was a strong admirer of Kogi State Governor especially his believes in the development of youths and his youths and women empowerment policy which he noted has greatly reduced the level of crimes in the state. He said Governor Yahaya Bello has distinguished himself as a unifying factor amongst the Nigerian leaders of today. Mikel Obi commended the governor for hosting the 1996 and 98 Super Eagles players in his state noting that such gesture was a morale booster for the young players in the system.
The former Chelsea midfielder urged the governor to
sustain his policy in youth and women involvement in governance while
commending his administration’s success in the area of security, infrastructure
and others.
The governor who is a staunch fan of Chelsea
Football Club expressed his delight while receiving his visitor. He disclosed
that Mikel as one of the holding midfielders during Chelsea’s glorious years
was not only dexterous but highly commanding and focused in his game. The
governor and his guest held a fruitful discussion leading to sport development
in Kogi State.
