Oby Ezekwesili’s "Fix Politics Initiative" Makes Demand For A New Nigerian Constitution At The National Assembly.

According to Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, former Minister of Education, I presented our @fixpoliticsnig submission to @nassnigeria Committee on the Review of the 1999 Constitution.

Our Demand is for a New Constitution.

We recommend a Single-Issue Amendment of the 1999 Constitution to allow for a Referendum and a Commission to prepare and organize toward agreeing the participation, process and agenda items for a New Constitution for Nigeria.

OUR SPECIFIC DEMANDS BY #FixPolitics Initiative are :

1. #FixPolitics calls for a Big Tent National Conversation for a Single-Issue Amendment of the 1999 Constitution to provide for Referendum and establishment of a Referendum Commission. 

2. NASS should work with Citizens to outline a New Constitution Process and the Agenda for a single-issue Amendment of the 1999 Constitution to allow a Referendum on New Constitution.

3. Constitute and inaugurate the National Conversation to agree the Participation, Process and Agenda Issues for a New Constitution.

4. Conclude the National Conversation and Distill Resolutions into a  List of Referendum items for all citizens to vote on through a process executed by the Referendum Commission.

5. Table the Referendum Results List before the NASS for completion into a New Constitution for Nigeria with the mandatory legitimacy conferred by all citizens of Nigeria.
