The Technical Assistant to the Vice President of Nigeria on New Media Hon. Philip Obin has assured Traditional Rulers and Chiefs in Biase Local Government Area of Cross River State of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration's commitment to peace and development in Nigeria.
The presidential Aide gave the assurance Tuesday at Ibogo, Biase Council Headquarters, while addressing the Traditional Rulers Council led by the Paramount Ruler, HRM Onun Nicholas Odum.
He said the APC-led Federal Government accords greater respect to traditional institutions because they play significant role in stabilizing the polity. He thanked the royal fathers for sustaining the peace in the local government area in particular and Cross River in general.
Obin, who was a guest at the grand defection rally and reception for all new members of APC in Biase, also told the traditional rulers that with the State Governor, Senator (Prof.) Ben Ayade now in the ruling party, Cross River would benefit more from the Federal Government.
The TA thanked President Buhari for prioritizing the Alesi-Ugep-Akpet-Odukpani road project and the completion of the Ikom bridge, which would all enhance the movement of goods and services, thereby stimulating the local economy.
He,
therefore, appealed to them to continue to support the Federal and State
Governments in their efforts to stem the tides of insecurity and emplace an
enabling environment that would attract more sustainable development, adding
that the Governor was working hard to ensure that the vision of the state aligns
very well with that of the government at the center.
